Sliding scale and subsidized treatment:

If you need support and cannot afford our regular fees, you can contact us before scheduling an appointment to enquire about our policy on sliding scale fees and subsidized treatment. While there’s no guarantee that fees can be lowered, your inquiry will allow us to consider your circumstances and, potentially, come up with options that would enhance your access to therapy. Please include as much information as possible about your circumstances, including your financial situation, your treatment goals, and other details that could help us evaluate your request. Please allow 1-2 weeks for the assessment and the decision with regard to your treatment options.

Payment and Cancellation Policy:

The fees apply to all sessions irrespective of their format (online via telehealth app, in-person, over the phone).
Payment can be made at the beginning or end of each session with a credit card, or via e-transfer.
Cancellation notice must be given at least 24 hours in advance. The full fee will be charged for late cancellations or no-shows.

Extended healthcare benefits:

Counselling services provided by licensed professionals are often included in the extended healthcare benefits under corporate or individual insurance plans. I am licensed in British Columbia as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and throughout Canada as a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). You can enquire with your insurance provider about the availability and extent of your coverage for counselling services provided by an RCC and/or CCC. You remain responsible for paying the fee directly to Family Tree Counselling. Any subsequent payments by the insurance company (if available) will be made to you.

ICBC clients:

If you have been in a car accident and have a claim with ICBC, and have a claim number or are working with a lawyer, you may be eligible for psychological support funding for counselling / mental health therapy. In order to apply for counselling sessions from ICBC please provide the date of your accident, your birthdate and your ICBC claim number and your adjuster's name, and your PHN #. In most cases, you will receive 12 sessions to be completed within 12 weeks from the accident start date. Please expect to fill a few forms and assessments during the treatment. ICBC covers $124 for a 50 minutes session. The customer is responsible for paying the user fee portion, which they may submit to their private health insurer for consideration of coverage. Please see additional information here.

Autism Funding program:

Autism Funding helps pay for eligible services or supports that promote skill development for children living with autism. If your child is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and you would like to get individual and family counselling, you can apply for funding through your Autism Funding account.
