Family Tree Counselling - Values & Principles

My practice is guided by the following core values and principles:

  • Everyone has the ability to change and live a better life.

  • All individuals are worthy of respect. My therapy space is one of acceptance and safety. Gender, race, sexual orientation, age, religion, relationship, and family status pose no barrier to the therapy process.

  • Clients take responsibility for their gains in counselling; the counsellor’s role is to be a guide, provide tools and resources, and create a safe space for exploration.

  • Counselling is based on a healthy connection that could mobilize the resources and inner strength of the client or the family.

  • I follow the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), and code and ethical standards of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
